It often seems in the modern era that the deck is unjustly rigged against the younger generations, in many different ways.
It also sometimes seems that the ease of existence outside the accepted norm, physically, mentally or philosophically has in some ways declined drastically over the past decades (this not true in every case and some who were outside the accepted norm, now often find themselves conditionally inside it) in the midst of somewhat ersatz attestations to the opposite.
Hardship in life is of course to be expected, but un-necessary hardship caused by other humans is frustrating, un-necessary hardship caused by other humans for their own gain is to be expected, but much of the folly we have to put up with is perpetuated by people who seem to have remarkably little to gain from it, which is quite bemusing; the degree of ignorance coming from perfectly intelligent people (perhaps even the person reading this or writing this) when the facts are quite readily available will never cease to be a mystery.
Furthermore a villain who admits that he is a villain frequently has a certain charm and humanity, but a villain or just about anyone who makes out he is a saint is truly sickening.
As a young man, a great many years ago now, I often made very great exertions to alter my somewhat baleful circumstances, but every effort I made was ultimately severely punished by those claiming to have my best interests at heart, and all for no rhyme nor reason, thus one came to the conclusion that if society was so determined to grind one down, apparently for the sake of it, one might as well not bother at all.
However one clear morning I was watching the sun rise up on the Wessex Downs, I came upon an old tramp going from farm gate to farm gate selling clothes pegs, a single word he spoke to me, perhaps it was more of a grunt, perhaps even a swear word, and that indistinct word or grunt changed the course of my life completely.
I was lost; unsure of my purpose, but just then I realised what the rationale behind my actions up to that point suddenly were: pure unadulterated masochism; being of age, reasonably well off, and not entirely infirm society had not yet devised a suitable subterfuge to coerce me to do anything or make me listen to anyone, one could easily depart from the path of least resistance and be infinitely better off.
I had made the decision to interact with society such as it was to the extent that I did just for the purpose of making myself suffer, such things are what separates Man from beast, that is why Adam chose to eat the apple and be cast from paradise and why God had to flood the earth, it is what caused the destruction of Sodom and Gomorah, it is the rationale behind the worship of the Golden Calf, of Baal, Beor and Asherah, sheer twisted perversity and long may it continue!
Good morning.
